Our most significant commission was in Mecca: the first comprehensive architectural and fine art photography of the Kaaba, for the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
The assignment came with exclusive access from 3am to 3pm and a fully cleared sanctuary. That is not a normal production circumstance, and it changed what the work could be: composed architectural photography of a structure that is almost always photographed as part of a crowd.
Work in the holy cities carries obligations beyond the technical. The requirement is reverence and accuracy, and the visual record produced is intended to outlast any campaign it might serve.
Work in Makkah connects to the wider province, including Taif and the corridor toward Jeddah. Commissions around the holy sites are arranged through the relevant authority rather than a standard permit process, and lead times reflect that.
